The State Library of Kansas offers Affiliates increased publicity for their activities and programming. The Affiliates have the connection to the State Library and the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress through participation as an Affiliate and a seat on the Kansas Center for the Book Board. Affiliates network with other affiliates for programming ideas, funding and statewide projects. Statewide projects include but are not limited to the national Letters About Literature project, participation in the Pavilion of the States at the National Book Festival, the Kansas Book Festival, the Kansas Notable Books List project, and the Kansas Authors Database on located on this website. The State Library of Kansas handles the administrative functions of the Kansas Center for the Book. Affiliates will offer a minimum level of programming in their area, participate as a member of the Kansas Center for the Book Board, pay an annual fee and provide information to the Center administrator to facilitate administrative functions. Affiliate representatives will be on the Board, and Affiliates are autonomous in their local programming. Groups that joined the Kansas Center for the Book in the inaugural year of 2005 are acknowledged as charter members.
