The State Library of Kansas & the Kansas Center for the Book are once again proud to promote the importance of reading to Kansas preschoolers & other youth.  In our fourth year of sponsorship, this year's book written by Karma Wilson, is Bear Feels Sick.  Supporting our endeavor, this website will provide program suggestions and opportunity for you to share your related ideas and activity pictures!

About Karma Wilson

Karma WilsonKarma Wilson grew up an only child of a single mother who was a professional writer in the wilds of Idaho. Reading was Karma’s first love, and by age 11 she was devouring about a novel a day, especially fantasy and historical fiction. At age 27 she realized that she still loved well written children’s books and acquired a computer. Karma then started writing for children. She wanted to put a few more good books on library shelves. Countless rejections and three years later Karma’s first book, Bear Snores On, was released in 2002. Since then Karma has had more than 30 books accepted for publication, including the 2008 Kansas Reads to Preschoolers title, Bear Feels Sick.

Karma writes humorous, rhythmic picture books for the very young and books that share her faith in a fun, understandable way with the youngest readers. She lives with her husband, three children, two dogs, one cat and four horses on a small ranch in Montana.
