Kansas Parent Information Resource Center - KPIRC promotes meaningful parent involvement at all levels of education and provides information and resources to help parents, educators and other organizations promote the educational success of every Kansas child.

Healthy Kids Challenge - HKC is a nationally recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit led by registered licensed dietitians with years of school, program and community wellness experience.

Kansas Pediatric Foundation -The Kansas Pediatric Foundation received a start-up grant from the Kansas Health Foundation to promote literacy to children 0 - 5 years old. The Kansas Pediatric Foundation's main focus is a program titled Turn a Page. Touch a Mind. The ultimate goal is to increase literacy in Kansas by providing books to Kansas children.

The Healthy Start Company - provides early educational solutions that promote positive behaviors to help prevent childhood obesity and other risk factors for long-term illnesses later in life.

Growing Up Fit Preschool Fitness Activities - explores way to introduce and teach organized movement to young children (.pdf)

Illinois Early Learning - includes basic information about what physical activities you can expect preschoolers (ages 3 – 5) to do (in English, Spanish, Polish), simple guides to encouraging children to become physically fit. Links to several useful resources.

Head Start Body Start - sponsored by The National Center for Physical Development and Outdoor Play, the HSBS Toolbox site includes:

  • a brief video clip discussing the importance of the body/mind connection and play with respect to child development
  • monthly early childhood physical activity calendar (English & Spanish)
  • a feature fitness activity

First School - This site includes free activities and crafts for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners on the topic of nutrition.

Kansas Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation - KAHPERD is dedicated to the advancement of professional practice, research and education within the fields of health, physical education, recreation and dance.

PE Central, Preschool Section - shares information that should be helpful to those who are responsible for providing movement programs for young children.

Kansas Department of Education, Early Learning Services Unit - part of the Special Education Services team, members of the Early Learning Services Unit have responsibilities including coordinating the many early childhood programs located in KSDE, providing technical assistance to early childhood personnel in programs across the state, and participating in meetings, coordinating councils, and conferences that occur across Kansas.
